A decline that began in 2008

The euro lost its allure in 2008. To stop the Swiss franc from soaring, the Swiss National Bank introduced an exchange rate peg of CHF1.2 to €1 in September 2011. This was abandoned on January 15, 2015. The graphic demonstrates that while €1 was worth CHF1.6 in 2007, the two currencies are almost at parity today.
